WTC 2011 Pubs

There are sufficient pubs (after a little tidying up) to cover the full 38 weeks that we require with some extras (just in case). This will also give us the opportunity to build a couple of "Pub Crawl" nights at some point, which have proved to be very popular as well as very messy.

So then, this years WTC pubs are as follows, and you'll note that for this week, I rolled a One and a Three giving me the option of number 4 or number 13 and the selection has been number 13.

It's my birthday week afterall - and so we will be enjoying some "arra's" at this location. You'll be needing the city bound number 10 or whichever bus goes into the city from sniffer's house if your sniffer. :-)

As usual - see you on the bus, or see you there!!!

Good luck to one and all.

WTC 2010/11 AGM Results

Good show last week lads, with Barnsey, Browner, Claude, Jugs, Rodders, Sniffer and the reigning WTC Champion Stan in attendance. As you may recall through your drunken haze, we did actually discuss what we would do this coming year and you all had until last night (in the end) to submit your suggested pubs.

Before I reveal the completed list, let us first go through some of the other decisions we've made.

Attendance
6 weeks non-attendance results in being blackballed, unless you can provide a suitable written excuse in no less than 200 words.

Pub Selection
Pub selection will be made via a roll of the dice each week and should be passed onto whoever will be in attendance.

Seasons
We will have three "seasons" of competition with the dividing time betwwen each league will be the BST changover. Therefore for this year, the split is as follows:

Winter League 1  13/01/2011 up to and including the 24/03/2011 (11 Weeks)
Summer League  31/03/2011 up to and including the 27/10/2011 (31 Weeks)
Winter League 2  03/11/2011 up to and including the 22/12/2011 (8 Weeks)

The 29/12/2011 is reserved for the Christmas do and results and the 05/01/2012 will be next years AGM.

Naturally we should expect the summer season to be the most disjointed due to summer holidays and the use of good weather and light evenings for other events outside of the WTC. Of course, what you choose to do only effects your scores and your chances of taking home the big prizes (as well as the kudos) at the end of the year. I'm sure Stan will happily regale you of stories regarding his major win this year and perhaps inspire you to re-double your efforts for next year.

There will be seasonal mini-awards with a small court session held on the first week on the following season.

Scoring
Once again we will be scoring each of the pubs we visit, but we are simplifying the scoring somewhat this year. There will now only be 5 categories with each category scoring either a zero, one or three points as follows:
  • Birds & Barmaids (The Totty Factor)
  • Batmosphere (Do I like sitting in this pub?)
  • Billiards & Barryoke (Entertainment)
  • B.F.M. (Beer, Food & Money Quality)
  • Bovril (Boverall)
This means the maximum any establishment can score is 15 points. As last year, this will be totalled and divided by the number of attendees and the normalised to a maximum of 5 (for reporting) on the following basis:
  • Score between 00-03 = 1 Star
  • Score between 04-06 = 2 Stars
  • Score between 07-09 = 3 Stars
  • Score between 10-12 = 4 Stars
  • Score between 13-15 = 5 Stars

The League Table
This means I'm happy to report that the league tables now look as follows:

2011 WTC Winter League 1

Premiership

Title Played Won Drinks Diff Championships
Stan Overall Champion 0 0 1 1
Golfy Best Administrator 0 0 1 0
Jugs Best Wino 0 0 1 0
Rodders Best Bitter OAP 0 0 1 0
Claude Best Newcomer 0 0 1 0
Browner Best Troublemaker 0 0 1 0
Sniffer Best PPNO 2010 0 0 1 0
Barnsey Best Runner 0 0 1 0

2nd Division

Dozzer Best Dancer 0 0 0 0
Shep Best Loser 0 0 0 0

Quiz Night.
We've also decided that on the 4th Thursday of each month we will visit the Norwood Arms for the pub Quiz. That means that this year, quiz night will be on the following nights. Put them in your diary now!

27/01/2011 26/05/2011 22/09/2011
24/02/2011 23/06/2011 27/10/2011
24/03/2011 28/07/2011 24/11/2011
28/04/2011 25/08/2011 22/12/2011

This leaves us with 38 weeks to fill with pubs from the list. And speaking of the list....  Special thanks to Stan, Claude and Rod for submissions - and what a bunch of useless bananas the rest of you are for not even feckin bothering. Herberts the lot of you!....

No Drinks On The Dance Floor

Happy New Year erstwhile members of the Wednesday/Thursday Club....

So here we are in the first week of 2011 and all doing our best to recover from over eating and over drinking no doubt. On the subject of which, I think we all need a beer!!!

This week sees the WTC's 2nd annual AGM which will be held in the Wagon & Horses. The following details will help you prepare....

1. Those in attendance will automatically sit in the Premier league, those not in attendance face instant relegation to the 1st division.
2. Please bring your contributions for a new list of pubs. The suggestion this year is that we will have two different seasons within the 12 months (a Winter League - split into two halves) and a summer league), so pubs will be allocated for winter or summer play.
3. Suggestions... your suggestions are what make our nights out entertaining, so get your thinking caps on and bring along your ideas for a bit of a larf.
4. Be there for 7.30
5. No Drinks On The Dance Floor...... even if you are trying to dance like Dozzer.
