Can you Bee-lieve it? Finally we managed to catch the Buzz to the Beehive. We’ve been waxing lyrical about it for ages, and so it was long overdue that Jugs honey-combed his locks and the rest of us tried to make up horrendous bee jokes all night long.
It is a great pub and is deserving of high scores. Tucked away in the back streets of Cheltenham, its a homely, real pub. It’s not a brand but feels much more like a local pub for local people. And, it’s Bizzy. The place was buzzing when we arrived having had a long walk from the wrong buzz stop via the cash point.
The beer isn’t cheap mind you. Just over £13 gets you four pints of larger (so around £3.25 a pint) but then you're paying to hangout with £3.25 clientele. A different type of person to that which you’d find elsewhere in town. Not the wanna-Bee millionaires of the Wine Bar, and not the cheesy chavs of a Weatherspoons. All in all, a honeypot of a pub and well worth the visit, but do Bee-have.
From here we stopped into O’Neils (which is a brand) and pointed at the wife swappers on the next table and then off to one of our well established favourites, the Salisbury to round the night off.
The taxi home was 28 quid - but he took the 21 that I had left. What else could he do? Kick me out? Fine by me :-)
Next week is undecided still. Lads - eMail your updates...
