Well the planned "WTC crawl MK2" for week 43 didn't happen (some say this was due to Golfy's usual poor admin .. ) and coupled with that Jugs desire to remain local .. it looked like yet another evening at the "old favourite" (i.e. The Wagon) .. Personally I think we've done this place to death and wanted to give it a miss, so after investigating a couple of other local options (The Ridge and Furrow .. local but a pain in the arse to get to, and The Double Gloucester .. local, but only for Golfy), we decided to visit what was the "old" local .. The Royal Oak, Hucclecote.
The Royal Oak was at one point a fairly decent boozer when it was managed by Dennis (a Jethro tribute act) and before him Pete (now at the Norwood), but it has since gone through various managers and has not really been as good since. This was proven by a question from the barstaff "were we staying for the quiz", to which the answer was "yes". Only to find out later the quiz was off, as in fact we were the only people who wanted to enter it ,.. (and probably at that point the only people left in the pub). Rod and Golfy sampled some of the food at The Oak .. Rod the over done scampi and chips (deep fried to death) and Golfy the Cheeseburger and Chips (apart from the salad, which had seen better days ... it didn't look too bad).
Anyway apart from the pub and the food, the usual banter ensued, and there was some talk of resurrecting the WTC Crawl MK2 ? ... but as usual .. Golfy's poor admin has let us down on that front and this has not been mentioned since ..
So Golfy, Golfy .. what's the suggested plan for this week .. ?
